What is the Atlas of Science?
|
The Atlas of Science project proposes the creation of an information system whose major aims is to achieve a graphic representation of the Spanish Science Research. Such representation is conceived as a collection of maps –hence its name- which pursues three major objectives:
- To provide the Spanish Research Community with a tool for the analysis of the structure formed by the diverse scientific domains and its corresponding research fronts, with the aim of improving the ability of interaction with others knowledge domains as well as institutions belonging to the system of science which they are integrated in.
- To generate a graphical interface allowing navigation functions throughout the semantic spaces formed by the maps. This interface will also allow accessing the available information by the way of digital libraries.
- To represent, through these dynamic maps, the evolution of the research in particular knowledge and institution domains. This will improve the ability of the scientific community to analyse trends in the development of future research directions.
